Take the JR Senseki Line from Sendai Station for about 40 minutes and get off at Matsushima-Kaigan Station.
It's about a 5-minute ride on the dedicated shuttle bus, or a minimum of about 2 hours and 30 minutes by Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo.
A free shuttle bus service is also available.

10 minutes by car from the hotel

Located on a hill overlooking Matsushima Bay, this spot offers a spectacular view of cherry blossoms and Matsushima together in spring. Approximately 260 cherry trees bloom, creating a beautiful landscape where pink blossoms add a splash of color to the blue sea and green pine trees.

Saigyo-modoshi-no-matsu Park

8-minute walk from the hotel

This historic site is said to have once had 108 caves, and still retains stone Buddha statues and stupas. It also contains the remains of the Kenbutsu-do hall where the monk Kenbutsu recited 60,000 copies of the Lotus Sutra, and is sometimes called the "inner sanctuary of Zuiganji Temple."

Matsushima Coast and Fukuura Island are connected by a 252-meter-long vermilion bridge. Also known as the "Bridge of Encounters," it is a popular spot for strolling, dotted with attractions such as the Benten-do temple and observation decks.

This building was originally bestowed upon Date Masamune by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and later relocated by the second lord of the domain, Tadamune. The hip-and-gable roof structure is designated as a prefectural tangible cultural property, and the plasterwork in the alcove and the sliding screen paintings are designated as important national cultural properties.

This wax museum, which opened in 1984, depicts the turbulent life of Date Masamune through 25 scenes recreated with approximately 200 wax figures.

This market was created by a shipowner in Kesennuma who owns seven tuna fishing boats. As a result, it gathers over 1,500 kinds of fresh fish, seafood, and other marine products directly from the source, offering a wide variety of fresh goods.

The temple's origins date back to 807, when Sakanoue no Tamuramaro built the Bishamondo hall and enshrined the Five Great Wisdom Kings statues there. This is believed to be the origin of the current name "Godaido" (Five Great Halls).
